Wheel and Handbuilding Classes:
* Learn to throw in one
lesson! $45. 1-1/2 hour (electric wheel) Includes instruction, clay, tools, glazing and firing.
*Try out an 1800s wooden
treadle wheel... 1-1/2 hour... $45.
*Learn
an Early American Style of Redware. Or... learn a Stoneware clay and glaze method. Electric and Treadle wheel, drape
molds, slip trailing, scraffito, majolica, cut sponge. Learn the process from clay to glaze and firing. 4 week course 2 hours per week, $120
*6 week course 2 hours per week, $180
Classes can be scheduled
once or twice a week. Call for details and time slot.

Tuesday night Adult Class... Beginner to Experienced...
I will have a hand-building project
set up...learn one of several methods each week, coil, slab, drape mold with slip trailers and more: make plates, ornaments,
birdhouses, whistles, rattles, sculpture, lanterns, lots and lots more ideas from my book "Clay Projects for Kids
age 6 to 106".
Experienced potters can choose their own
project... come with ideas!
(some glazing may require a following class to finish up, some are unglazed projects
and some can be glazed by the shop.) One 1/2 hour project, 7-8:30 pm on Tuesday nights.

Pottery Classes for Kids
The Need to Create
We all enjoy making something with our hands. Finding the right medium for one’s own special
talents is very satisfying—whether it is yarn and knitting needles, wood and carving tools, oil paint and brushes or
a lump of clay.
After School Classes can be arranged at your childrens school. Contact your
local Park & Recreation department or talk to your school about setting up a one-time class. I will bring all supplies
to the school at 3:00, the children will make a pottery project from natural clays, usually in the cafeteria. Children
are picked up at 4:00 by parents. Projects will be brought back to the school the following week after firing and glazing,
wrapped tightly in a colorful blue plastic bag for the children to bring home at the end of the day. Here are some
of the over 50 projects my students have done!....

over 30 years teaching and demonstrating experience, in hand-building, drape molds, slip trailing, slab and sculpture and
turning pottery on the wheel. Hand-Building
Kids classes sponsored by the Torrington Park & Rec Dept... at my shop June 30 and July 7 or July

HAND - BUILDING:
I offer 3 Class programs to suit your needs:
.................................................................................. 4-week Program: .................................................................................. 4-week Program: 5 to 6 hand-building projects using a variety of clays, decorations
and techniques. Indian bowls, slip decorated redware, mugs, bird houses, tiles, pinch pots, rattles, bells and ornaments. 1 1/2 hour per week,
6 hours total, $72 each student, minimum of 4 students, call to schedule at my workshop, includes all materials and firing.
(Classes held at your location over 10 miles will be an extra $40 travel and delivery fee). .................................................................................. One hour Project: Any one of the above projects, 1 hour, $12 each student, minimum of 4 students, call
to schedule, includes all materials and firing. I Can travel to your space and deliver finished items within 2 weeks
later (over 10 miles at an extra charge of $20) or you can pick up at my workshop to save any delivery charges. .................................................................................. Learn and Play: History tour of my pottery barn. Learn about clays, where they
come from, how they are used, different compositions and applications. Learn about early CT potters, including Hervey
Brooks from Goshen whose pottery workshop is now at Sturbridge village in Massachusetts. Follow the process from a lump of clay...through turning on the
wheel, trimming, decorating, application of spouts and handles, making of plaster molds, casting, firing, glazing and firing
again... to the finished pot. Concluding in each student pressing a small tile in the old fashioned way with plaster molds and mallets. 1 1/2 hour
$50/group, up to 20 students per group, at my shop
